For those of you who may not know, our pastor, John Stumbo, has been seriously ill this past month. Currently he is at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland, OR. Last week our church (Salem Alliance Church in Salem, OR) held an all-church prayer and worship time for Pastor John. What a powerful gathering this was! We prayed as a body, led by the pastors, and we prayed in small groups. One could feel the Holy Spirit working among His people at Salem Alliance! This was one of those “WOW” moments for me. I could sense God’s presence among us as we corporately and individually lifted Pastor John up to the Lord. We asked for healing. We asked for peace. We asked for guidance and wisdom for the medical teams. We asked that God’s will be done. We sang. We cried. We came together as one to pray for our much beloved pastor and brother in Christ.
God has begun to answer our prayers, and those of other around the globe! PTL! Pastor John is beginning to heal, slowly, but he is healing. God has answered our prayers.
We ask ourselves “why does this happen”? We don’t know why, but there is something great and powerful that will come out of this experience. We trust God. We love God. We give our requests to Him.
We have seen God – Jehovah Rophe, the God who heals, touch Pastor John. Jehovah Rophe, the God who heals.! Praise God! If you would like to be updated on Pastor John’s condition, please visit the Salem Alliance Church web site at www.salemalliance.org – there is an update link posted on the home page.
