Tuesday’s All Church Prayer Service

As I indicated on my Facebook page, my church was holding an all-church prayer/worship service on Tuesday of last week, February 17. We prayed for our pastor, John Stumbo, who joined the church family and spoke a few words, and gave the closing prayer. He was so appreciative of all the prayers that has been said on his behalf. As we stood for the closing prayer, I couldn’t help but thank God, Jehovah Rophe, the God who heals, that a true miracle had taken place within the Salem Alliance Church family. God brought John to us this evening, which confirmed to us that Jehovah Rophe heard our prayers.

We also prayed for the church, the Broadway Project, the Salem Free Medical Clinic (which Salem Alliance Church is a partner with West Salem Foursquare Church), and people to fill vital ministry roles for both the medical clinic and the many church ministries.

I was truly blessed to be a part of the church family this evening, praying for each other, praying for our pastor, praying for the medical clinic, etc…Thank you God!

Groundbreaking Weekend @ Salem Alliance Church

This weekend was one that had been in the planning for literally years! Over 20 years ago the church made numerous attempts to purchase property on the corner of  Broadway and Hood Streets in Salem. The groundbreaking for what is currently called “The Broadway Project” finally took place at noon on Saturday, February 7. There were thousands who descended on the “footprint” of what will become a place for community, church and commerce. The worship services this weekend focused on this community outreach and what it will do for the city. One former pastor made the comment that people should “come see what God is doing at Salem Alliance Church”;  not come and see what Salem Alliance is doing! It’s true, God is working in the lives and hearts of people of Salem Alliance.

Groundbreaking at Salem Alliance Church

Joanna and John Stumbo at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Broadway Project!

Attending the ceremony was our beloved pastor, John Stumbo and his wife Joanna. Many of us wondered if he would “make an appearance” at this history-making event in the life of Salem Alliance Church. Rumors were flying as fast as the bees in summer! Once everyone was assembled on the footprint of the new building, many of us soon spotted John! What an emotional time it was for us to see him since he was hospitalized back in October 2008. Jehovah Raphe – the God who heals, truly sent John to us Saturday! Though not totally healed, but tremendous healing overall since October, we witnessed one of God’s miracles! Doctors told John’s family back in November he wouldn’t walk for at least a year — now John walks with the aid of a walker! PTL! All Glory to Him, the God who rescues us and heals us!

Prayers continue to go up to God for John’s continued healing. This coming Tuesday evening, February 17, the Salem Alliance family will once again gather to pray for John and continued healing. Please consider joining us at 7:00 pm in your home, or at our church!
